From total beginners wanting to have a go, to those with previous experience looking to practice their wheel-throwing skills, these intimate and relaxed classes aim to cover a bit of everything

These private classes are ideally for one to two adults (no little ones, sorry) at a time in my relaxed garden studio near Ammanford, so you get enough time on the wheel to learn and practice without the pressures of a classroom full of people. We will start off with an informal demo, covering the basics of clay preparation, centering, and throwing on the wheel with loads of chances to ask questions before getting stuck in and having a go. I’ve recently been lucky enough to add a second wheel to my studio, so everyone has more time on the wheel, and I can take 4 people at a time!
Each session is 2 hours and includes all materials, firing, and glazing.
I will fire what you make and glaze them for you from your choice of my glazes.
Come and collect your work when it’s hot out of the kiln
If you find you’re totally hooked after your first session, I always recommend booking a batch of sessions, usually a run of 4 weeks. Each week can be dedicated to practicing and improving your skills, producing better pots as you go which will also be glazed and fired for you.
Taking it beyond the wheel
If you’re interested in the processes aside from wheel throwing, further classes could focus on trimming/refining your dried pieces, as well as learning the process of glazing if you wish to do so, or you can dedicate every week to pure making, it’s up to you.

Can I bring my children?
No, for a few reasons - wheel throwing is quite technical and requires a bit of strength, and my functional studio isn’t suitable for children. Clay is super fun to get messy with and enjoy, kids love it, I highly encourage you to find your little ones a hand-building class if you can, but these sessions are totally geared towards technical throwing on the potters wheel to make functional wares for you to enjoy.
Even if the session is just for you but you’d like to bring your little one along to sit and watch, my studio is a functional studio full of risks, you’ll be concentrating hard on making some awesome pots, and I’ll be concentrating on teaching you and helping you, so let’s find a day where you can hopefully find childcare to allow you to get fully stuck in.
